About us
Legal framework
AECFA is responsible for providing the slot coordination and schedules facilitation service, pursuant to EEC Regulation No 95/93 (modified by EC Regulation No 793/2004), the Spanish legislation (Royal Decree 20/2014 and Royal Decree-law 1/2014), the industry international recommended practices (in particular, those set out in the IATA's Worldwide Slot Guidelines) and the existing local regulations.
The allocation of a slot does not give the airline to which clearance is granted any right of ownership over the slot.
The slot allocation and schedules facilitation process is described in detail in the Worldwide Slot Guidelines (WSG) published by IATA (International Air Transport Association), which can be obtained free of charge in the association's website (www.iata.org/policy/slots/pages/slot-guidelines.aspx). This document lists the set of procedures and defines the time periods that must be applied when undertaking slot coordination and schedules facilitation.
