Slot coordination
Glossary of terms
- Coordinated airport: shall mean any airport where, in order to land or take off, it is necessary for an air carrier or any other aircraft operator to have been allocated a slot by a Slot Coordinator, with the exception of State flights, emergency landings and humanitarian flights.
- Schedules Facilitated airport: shall mean an airport where there is potential for congestion at some periods of the day, week or year which is amenable to resolution by voluntary cooperation between air carriers and where a Schedules Facilitator has been appointed to facilitate the operations of air carriers operating services or intending to operate services at that airport.
- Slot: shall mean the permission given by a Slot Coordinator in accordance with EEC Regulation No 95/93 to use the full range of airport infrastructure necessary to operate an air service at a Coordinated airport on a specific date and time for the purpose of landing or take-off as allocated by a Slot Coordinator in accordance with that Regulation.
- New Entrant: basically these are the slot requests that have been submitted with this priority, and that refer either to airlines that have small presence at the airport concerned or that operate an EU route on which there are a maximum of two other airlines operating. For a more precise definition, refer to Section 2.b of the amended EEC Regulation No 95/93.
- Series of slots: shall mean at least five slots having been requested for the same time on the same day of the week regularly in the same scheduling period and allocated in that way or, if that is not possible, allocated at approximately the same time.
- Season: each one of the scheduling periods into which the annual period is divided.
- Summer Season: is the period extending from the last Sunday in March to the Saturday before the last Sunday in October.
- Winter Season: is the period extending from the last Sunday in October to the Saturday before the last Sunday in March.
