Slot allocation priorities

The priorities to be applied in the slot allocation process by the Slot Coordinator are set out in the relevant regulations and are summarized below.

  1. Primary Criteria
    1. Historic Slots
    2. Changes to Historic Slots due to operational reasons Once the above mentioned priorities have been applied, the remaining capacity and any new capacity for the season will set up what is known as the Slot Pool, which is distributed as follows:
    3. First 50% of the Slot Pool for requests qualifying as New Entrants
    4. Second 50% of the Slot Pool:
      1. Revision of historic slot changes due to operational reasons
      2. Changes to historic slots due to non-operational reasons
      3. Other type of requests
  2. Additional Criteria
    • Continuation of operation from the adjacent season (year-round concept)
    • Type of service (preference is given to series of slots of scheduled and programmed commercial air services)
    • Effective period of operation
    • Frequency of operation
    • Size and type of market
    • Local Rules (e.g. aircraft noise regulations)
