Community relations

Sponsorship and social action are a fundamental pillar of the social line of Aena's Sustainability Strategy and reflect the company's commitment to the people and communities of the territories in which it operates. Aena promotes initiatives aligned with its business model and the expectations of its stakeholders through this space with the aim of contributing to social development and reinforcing the positive impact of its activity through five lines of action.

Culture and heritage

Aena promotes access to culture and the development of young talent through Aena with music, a sponsorship programme that supports the training of young artists and groups at risk of exclusion. This initiative brings music to airports and promotes cultural dissemination through collaboration with institutions of recognised prestige, integrating the company's social commitment into its airport activity in a close, inclusive and accessible way.

Additionally, the Premio Aena de Narrativa Hispanoamericana was created in 2026 to promote literary creation, encourage reading and strengthen the link between literature and society. The award recognises narrative works published in Spanish and in co-official languages for their quality, originality and cultural contribution. It is complemented by initiatives that promote reading and literary dialogue in Spain and Latin America, fostering cultural diversity and exchange between the two continents.

Conservation and dissemination of aeronautical heritage

Aena promotes the cultural dissemination and preservation of aeronautical heritage with exhibition spaces open to the public in airports and by managing museums dedicated to the history of aviation at some of its airports. These initiatives bring aeronautical heritage closer to society and contribute to the conservation of historic buildings and elements in the territories where the company operates.

This task is complemented by organising open days and visits for schools and training centres, as well as specific meetings with spotters' associations, which offer aeronautical photography enthusiasts the chance to capture images of aircraft in an airport environment. Aena thus strengthens its link with local communities, promotes knowledge of air transport and awakens interest in the sector from different social spheres.

Support for vulnerable groups and social action

Aena implements its commitment to vulnerable groups through ‘Aena with society’, a social action programme that promotes projects with a positive and direct impact on the communities where it operates, in areas such as education, social inclusion, health, quality of life, ecological transition and responsible tourism. This initiative also promotes the active participation of employees, who act as sponsors in selecting and supporting projects.

Aena also provides solidarity spaces in most of its airports in Spain, available to social organisations to give visibility to their initiatives, raise public awareness and reinforce the social impact in the airport environment.

Universal accessibility and attention to diversity

Aena is working to make its airport network increasingly accessible, inclusive and adapted to the diverse needs of its passengers. In addition to the Barrier-Free service, available at all Spanish network airports, the company is promoting specific improvements such as waiting rooms for people with invisible disabilities and spaces with low sensory stimulation, such as the Silent Room at Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport.

Aena is also actively collaborating with the Federation of Associations of Ostomy Sufferers of Spain (FAPOE) to progressively extend the availability of adapted toilets, moving towards a more comfortable, accessible and inclusive airport experience for all.

Education and research

Aena promotes education, dissemination and applied research to foster knowledge of air transport, promote innovation and strengthen the link between airport activity and society. Through the ‘Aena with research’ programme, the company supports projects aimed at developing innovative and sustainable solutions in the airport sector, in collaboration with research groups of recognised prestige.

Our social impact in figures

In 2025, the Aena Group has allocated more than €5.6 million to foundations and non-profit organisations to promote initiatives related to the economic and social development of the communities linked to its activity. Of this total, €4.8 million corresponds to Spain and €836,917 to Aena's UK subsidiary.

With regard to contributions in kind, Spanish airports have allocated 371 m² to solidarity spaces, ceded to social entities to give visibility to their projects, and 19,615 m² to cultural exhibitions and aeronautical museums, which represents an additional contribution of €382,792 that reinforces the social and cultural impact of airport activity.
