Aena Group airports recorded almost 41 million passengers in July

The airports of the Aena Group (comprising the 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport, Leeds Bradford Airport and 17 airports in Brazil) closed the month of July 2026 with 40,901,221 passengers, 4.9% more than in the same month in 2025; they handled 341,080 aircraft movements, 5.4% more than in 2025; and transported 123,510 tonnes of freight, 5.4% less than in 2025.

In cumulative terms, in the first seven months of 2026, 230,865,989 passengers passed through Aena Group airports (4% more than in 2025); 1,977,781 aircraft movements were recorded (+3.6%); and 863,121 tonnes of freight were transported, 0.2% less than in the same period in 2025.

Aena Airports in Spain

Between January and July 2026, the airports of the Aena network in Spain have recorded a total of 190,652,815 passengers (4% more than in 2025), which represents a lower rate of growth than in the first seven months of last year compared to 2024, when growth stood at 4.1%. 1,617,122 aircraft movements were carried out (+4.4%) and 773,812 tonnes of freight were transported, 2.9% more than in the same period in 2025.

The airports of the Aena network in Spain recorded 34,406,581 passengers in July, 5% more than in the same month of 2025; they handled 284,423 aircraft movements, 6.1% more than in July 2025; and they transported 109,457 tonnes of freight, 4.5% less than on July of last year.

At 6,466,823 passengers, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in July, representing a growth of 4.8% compared to this month last year. It is followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 5,871,137 (+6% compared to 2025); Palma de Mallorca, with 4,696,690 (+2.2%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 3,046,818 (+6.3%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 2,341,007 (+11.1%); Ibiza, with 1,490,302 (+3.0%); Gran Canaria, with 1,349,122 (+4.9%) and Valencia, with 1,258,225 (+11.1%).

In terms of operations, the airport with the most movements in July was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with a total of 40,573 (+7% compared to 2025), followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 35,886 flights (+6.6%); Palma de Mallorca, with 32,198 (+2.4%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 20,839 (+5.2%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 14,281 (+11.3%); Ibiza, with 13,544 (+2,4%); and Gran Canaria, with 12,395 landings and take-offs (+8%).

With regard to freight traffic, the airport with the highest cargo volume in July was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 62,931 tonnes, 10% less than in the same month of 2025. It is followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, which recorded 20,435 tonnes (+8.1%); Zaragoza Airport, with 12,475 tonnes (-0.1%); and Vitoria, with 6,720 tonnes (+5.7%).

Aena Brasil Airports

The 17 airports of Aena Brasil reached 4,108,327 passengers last July, 2.6% more than in the same month of 2025. 38,862 aircraft movements were carried out, an increase of 0.9% compared to the same month in 2025, and 11,847 tonnes of freight were transported, 9.8% less than in the same month last year.

The group of six ANB airports(1) closed the month of July with 1,523,816 passengers (+2.1%). Among them, Recife Airport stands out with 861,916 passengers (-1.4%). There were 13,395 flights (+1.4%), of which Recife managed 6,803 (-3.6%). And 5,771 tonnes of freight were moved (-9.9%), of which 4,080 tonnes corresponded to Recife Airport (-14.3%).

The BOAB group of eleven airports(2) recorded 2,584,511 passengers in July (+2.8% over the same month of 2025). Among them, Congonhas Airport stands out with 2,178,610 passengers (+2.5%). A total of 25,467 flights were handled (+0.6%), of which 17,889 (-1.1%) were at São Paulo airport. And 6,076 tonnes of freight were transported (-9.8%). At Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, 5,276 tonnes were handled, 11.4% less than in the same month of the previous year.

In the first seven months of 2026, 26,962,548 passengers (+3.9%) have passed through Aena airports in Brazil; 258,606 aircraft movements were recorded (-0.7%); and 77,015 tonnes of freight were transported, 4.1% more than in the same period in 2025.

London Luton Airport

During the month of July, 1,854,378 passengers(3) passed through London Luton Airport's facilities, 8.9% more than in the same month of 2025. 13,504 aircraft movements were handled (+3.7%) and 2,206 tonnes of freight(4) were transported, 19.6% less than in 2025.

In the first seven months of 2026, 10,626,948 passengers(3) were recorded (+5.8%), 80,035 aircraft movements were handled (+2.5%) and 12,294 tonnes of freight(4) were transported (-29.2%). The decrease in freight traffic is due to the night-time closure of the runway for resurfacing works.

Leeds Bradford Airport

Leeds Bradford Airport, which has been integrated into the Aena Group since 7 May of this year, recorded 531,935 passengers in July, 2.9% more than in the same month of 2025, and handled 4,291 aircraft movements (+4%).

Between January and July 2026, 2,623,678 passengers (+3.2%) have passed through its facilities and 22,018 operations have been handled (+2.9%).
